Welcome to the world of Robert Marc Lehmann!
You might not know him, but you will after reading this thread!

I always wanted to introduce him to more ppl online and
I`m now taking this chance to introduce you one of the ppl I respect and admire.
All content posted here (photos, videos, etc) is all by him!

Biography

His Work

As I mentioned above he is doing a lot of things to establish awareness, almost too much to put them all in one thread.
So I will try to go more into detail in the following sections:

Spoiler: Releasing Books

He released 2 books so far:

1. "MISSION ERDE" Die Welt ist es wert, um sie zu kämpfen! (Mission Earth. The world is worth fighting for)
The book is dedicated to preserving our earth with its unique nature and wildlife.
He travels around the world on missions to save wild animals, fight environmental crime and takes us on very emotional whale rescues,
dangerous turtle and pangolin rescues, Liberations in the jungle or sometimes life-threatening missions in which he tries
to stop the people who are destroying our earth.
He shows how serious the situation is, makes us witnesses to the dramatic events on our planet and explains,
what needs to be done now and what each and every one of us can do.
This book became a bestseller.

2. Mission Erde - Meer als nur ein Bildband (Mission Earth - More than a picture book)
Like the name states, this is a book made of his photographes, but also includes important information
on red listed animals and problematic topics, such as fishing.
This book was printed in a climate-neutral way on biodegradable "apple paper".
Only renewable energy (RECS certified) were used to make the paper - a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.
1 square meter of primeval forest in Canada will be protected by purchasing the book.

He is the first person to make a book climate neutral. As no one wanted to publish his book, he had to found his own publishing company,
as no one wanted to take the risk. He also works on ways to make books vegan!

Spoiler: Documentary

He works as a photographer, cameraman and filmmaker - underwater and above.
He is active worldwide for film and research projects and shoots for renowned national and international
nature documantary formats and scientific institutions.

He has won several awards for his work.
National Geographics Germany named his photographer of the year 2015.

He always says, that he also wants to show the bad side of things, not only the beautiful.
Because its important, that ppl see the bad side too and are not blinded by beautiful pictures.

In the past this was a big part of his life, now he doenst have as much time anymore,
but he still sees it as an important part of his work.

Public work is impotant for every environmentalist.
He has lectures at schools, is guest on science programs, childrens programs and other tv formats.
More than 10,000 students of all grades are inspired by him every year as he
has lectures on enviromental issues.

What does Nutella consumtion have to do with an orangutan orphanage in Borneo,
and why are spoons more dangerous than sharks?
He will give you the answer.

And like I always like to say: Education is the foundation of society.
If we educate children, they will hopefully wil be better adults.

Spoiler: Projects & Expeditions

Roberts projects have led him to more than 100 countries so far.
In his bag, always his camera. Scientific jobs, conservation projects, animal rescue operations
and research expeditions are leading to great images.

The results are amazing and breathtaking, but also sometimes emotional and eye opening images.

Also, on his Discord channel gather motivated and excited ppl that got inprired by him
and organize their own projects, such as clean up's or collecting cigarettes.

And when he isnt saving the world with planting trees, etc. he also supports young ppl
with their own projects. Such as his 'Project Padawan' in wich he supported young environmentalist financially
so they can realize their dreams.

Spoiler: Protecting Forests - Work with Wilderness International

With his organisation he works together with Wilderness International.
By now he has 'his own' forest you could say.

With Mission Earth he protected 1,739,964 m2 of old-growth forest so far.


Who is Wilderness International?

The Wilderness International team dedicates its daily work to the legally secure purchase of ecologically valuable and
acutely threatened wilderness areas around the world in order to protect them in perpetuity.
It all started with the enthusiasm for forests with huge trees...
Back then, 26 people from six countries, 24 different professions and aged between 18 and 69 were united by their love for impressive,
wild nature and the desire to preserve it for future generations.
So they founded the environmental protection organization Wilderness International in Germany and Canada in 2008.
In 2019, they added the Peruvian organization.

Today, Wilderness International consists of three sister foundations with one great goal:
to protect the last unique wilderness areas forever.

Their vision:
By 2050, protect the last 2.8% of our planet's remaining intact habitats through legally secure purchase.

The beginning of his youtube channel was also the beginning of a wild journy.
Not only for him, but also a lot of other ppl, including myself.
He inspired me to change my thinking and basically destroyed the bubble I was living in.
He is the reason I`m vegan and also more interested in the enviroment.
With his content he inspired not only me ofc, but also a lot of other ppl too.

He does reactions on environmental topics, releases documentaries (you can watch for free!!!),
critizizes animal cruelty (such as zoos, the aquarium scene, etc), critizizes rich ppl buying exotic animals (lions, tigers, etc)
and ofc to support important initiatives & projects.

With his 0800 SEE ORCA documentary he reached no.1 spot on youtube in Germany and also made it possible to support
his own inspiration Dr. Ingrid Visser who works with orca in New Zealand.
Fun fact about this documentary is, no one wanted to publish it. He basically run around the world to find someone,
but NO ONE wanted to support it. So years later he finally published it on outube and it was a huge success.

Noteworthy: He was the first person that filmed the orca in New Zealand!
So in this docu, you see the first pictures taken of them!



You can also watch his other documentaries on his youtube channel. His orca series has eng sub, all others have auto subs,
but they seem fine too. So if you want to watch his content, feel free to look at his playlists.

Ofc there are not only beautiful images, but also the bad ones, such as his docu's abou the factory farming industry,
fur industry and more. In his Europe series he shows the dark side of our consumtion bahavior.
Or his Bali series, in which his takes us behind the scenes of the aquarium scene, shark killing and illigal animal trade.

Everything is connected and every plant, every animal has to play their part
and every part is important.

I hope more ppl will understand this by reading this thread and by learning about him.
For most ppl he is one of a lot, for me he is one of a few.

sadly my fav photo of him is not in hisgallery, only in the docu.

he just has a talent of capturing the gazes of monkeys.
the photos he made of the chimpanzee in his uganda docu are just amazing.
idk they had so much emotion in their eyes.

you cant save them all. but in his mission on bali he supported an organisation that works with saved animals and tries to resocialze them and set them free into the wild. but for some monkeys there is no hope for freedom even though they are saved, because you cant resocialze them anymore.
they were taken from their mother still a baby, so they dont know how to behave like a monkey, basically.

thats why I also changed. I became vegan, try not to buy products with palm oil in it, try to buy veggs that are either regional or at least from europe and always try to buy veggs with no plastic packaging. you can do a lot, you just have to do it.
I also made my balcony bird+insect friendly and compansate my co2 emmission with donating to wilderness international (and also mission earth, because he supports a lot projects I dont even know of). and he always publishes a year report so everything is transparent and you know where your money is invested in.
