the AIpocalypse is starting
I don't think so.
When they invented Auto-Tune in 1997, artists claimed that everyone could perfectly sing now. When they invented digital samplers and instruments, musicians had panic that they'll use their job. When Napster started, the whole music industry were afraid of going bankrupt - because no one would buy music anymore. And? Today's music scene is alive and kicking!
Now there's the AI-hype (not only in music) and the market will get flooded with crappy AI-songs. Just wait and see. AI will get just another instrument that real musicians can use to expand their horizon - like samplers and digital instruments. Because no AI can simulate the emotion that artists put in their songs, the difficult tone variations they show when really playing an instrument skillfully, or using a trained voice.
Currently I have fun testing things out with Udio. But because of Udio I bought an older (cheaper) version of Ableton Live and watch tutorials now. Creating AI music inspired me to make my own instrumental music. I thought about using Udio commercially in the future, but for generating interesting sound parts (samples), not for creating full songs.
