It actually did. I don't wanna name names, but ever since i watch kpop performances western performances seem dull. The choreos seem lazy, the stages seem just some sexual act without substance and the camera work is HORRENDOUS.

I'M TOO used to kpop stages now.

Same , like they do stages with themes that has 0 connection to the song. Like using pizza makers for a ballad of a dead dog, kinda type xD
And they lick eachother or kiss, or grind on eachother. Is that supposed to be so scandalous in 2024? In kpop it's scandalous cuz they don't even look at the opposite gender on camera. But in the west , girl u made out and the paparazzi caught u yesterday??? Why is that included in ur stage?

Yep, western music mostly sucks now. Other than oldie but goodie songs I love I checked out of western pop for good.

i honestly haven't gotten to that stage yet but i really understand your pov, i might even end up thinking the same soon this is why i like watching festival stages since they're usually more extravagant than the normal concert ones

I tend to listen to the best of both worlds according to my taste. K-Pop is a nice contrast, it expanded my musical horizon in unexpected dimensions. But I'd never stop listening to Japanese and Western music.

Many people like the old songs more because they are impregnated with their own memories. Music that is linked to emotional situations in our past works on another level. Many people miss the music of the past because they grow up with those songs. Our school years, our youth clique, the first car, the first love, the first sex - it's all linked to specific songs. Music that helped us through difficult times hits different too.
