I know EU countries are voting for the EU parliament this weekend and idk, I just wonder... Do you think everyone should have the right to vote for politics?

I don't know how is it in another countries, but here some old people are really manipulated by certain left-wing politicians. And those politicians are terrible and have the power to brain-wash old people somehow. And people without a good education. So in my opinion I think the right to vote should be given only before... 65 let's say and if you graduated at least highschool. That's because we vote for our future.

Every human should have the right to vote for who they think will be a good leader. Stripping the right to vote simply because your educational background is not as great as another human's doesn't really sit well with me. Sometimes, the educated are the ones who are blinded, in politics.

That being said, I do agree that with the age thing. I feel like once you're past a certain age, you become set in your ways and refuse to evolve with the world. I also do not think criminals/prisoners with a certain track record should have the right to vote either. They've already proven they do more harm than good to the world.

It's like this, most people who are past a certain age refuse to acknowledge the change the world goes through. They want things to go back to the way it was. For example, and I'm not endorsing Clinton but, Trump won the majority in the over 60s demographic in 2016 elections. They are a big part of the reason he's the current president of the US.

I agree, but for example I had so many fights with my grandma because she doesn't want to understand that her opinion is wrong. She likes some politiancs that are thieves and change the laws however they want so they won't go to jail. I tried to explain those things but she doesn't understand. Of course there are level-headed old people but some just don't want to listen

You can argue the same for educated people, unfortunately. Humans, in general, are easy to buy as long as they're profiting in some way. Seldom do you find genuine people who are using their right to vote to think of the betterment of the whole populace, rather than just themselves. And those kinds of people are within the educated and non-educated.

Politics itself is a dirty game filled with corrupt individuals. It's sad that most of the so called "leaders" of our countries are only in it for themselves.

I'd hope that people would be more aware, do some research and so on before voting. But I don't think stupidity depends on age that much.

Young people are also easily influenced tbh, they dont have as much foresight and experience as someone who has seen how the world has been working and they also try to push theur beliefs onto those who have different ones without considering the other side.

Everyone should have the right to vote and while I do see your point of the problem I think the solution to that is not limiting the age you can vote for it's working on educating people better about politics and the candidates as well as trying to cut down propaganda in political campaigns so people only get the right information instead of being fed with garbage the candidate has no intention of following up on.

People voted for themselves instead of thinking how it would affect the country. The votes would have drastically changed if they had let people just 2 years younger than the actual age vote...

Not many elderly people vote anyway. I don't see why we should stop them. There are probably quite a few who are not swayed by leaders and stand by their opinions.

And I do agree they should lower the age to vote to 16. People aged 16 aren't adults but they're old enough to have formed their own views and should be able to vote.

That's bit interesting I guess, left wing is usually just regarded as utopistic and overly tolerant here, when the issue is rise of right wings with True Finns, the anti-immigration anti-EU party that has now found lot of like minded people in EU.

It is pretty hard to find good candidates to vote these days, I always try to make lot of research before voting, but finding candidate that fits most of my views seems pretty impossible xd

Wow... That's terrible. Manipulating the weak is one of the lowest of the low.

I don't think that should mean that elderly people aren't allowed to vote though. They only make up a small amount of the population in most countries so their votes shouldn't have a huge effect. Right?
