I hate the amount of solo artists that have sprung up out of the woodwork.
VERY FEW idols who were part of a group know how to be a soloist.
Most of the music or songs sound so similar to other solo artists and it feels like there is VERY little originality with it.

I can't keep track of the releases because I keep getting them all mixed up.
The songs have no change in tonality, no fun to them, or just seem very boring.
VERY FEW IDOLS CAN PULL OFF BEING A SOLOIST.

It feels like the industry is getting oversaturated by them now.

Accurate, tbh. It used to be pretty risky having a soloist, so companies would only bother with established groups with idols who were likely to succeed, and if they didn't, people mostly understood that being the end of that attempt.

And now it's like every member of every group needs to be given a solo or the fans riot.

Yeah but are groups much better? There’s a ton of groups, and a lot sound very similar to each other too. That’s been a very common complaint. So why would them releasing group songs instead be preferable? Also sometimes solos make sense, like if a male group is approaching the time where they and their group mates have to enlist. And from the perspective of the singer, solos can let them focus on music more to their liking, given that it’s just them. It could be a bit lame, but it’s their personal choice of lame that they like rather than a group choice of lame that they don’t care for. Not that they always get the choice, but sometimes they definitely do.

I absolutely agree. Honestly kpop as a whole has become overly saturated. It wasn't like before in the 2nd or 3rd gen eras as much. I can't keep up with most of the new groups that are coming out either

I still personally feel like there is more diversity soundwise with groups compared to soloists. Yes, Kpop goes through phases every couple of years but right now I feel like we have a diverse bit of music. I can also for the most differentiate the songs or groups. Also, when I say this I'm not just talking about the music I'm talking about the overall quality. (I am coming from the perspective of being in Kpop sine 2nd generation).

When you take a member away from the group they have to stand on their own, and majority, let's face it, cannot do that and they benefit from being in the group.

Oh it definitely has, and what's more shocking is that so many of them have barely trained. They can't stand in a group, let alone on their own and yet they are being pumped out like crazy to be soloists.
