so well. um. stanning a group that's known to be,,, er, how do i put it. well, gay. they're known to be that gay group. and there's this one group (ok there's tons of kpop artists like that who i stan but i'm talking about one specifically) like that that i do happen to stan. and idk, i'm not here for the ship. i'm here for the music, and the comfort i find in knowing that some of the members are supportive of the community.
yeah, i'd say some members are queer. one shouldn't assume anyone's romantic/sexual orientation, ever (though straight fans are the first to assume their faves are as straight as them, sigh), but there's definitely some members who i'd say are at the very least comfortable enough in themselves to express themselves (not just in clothing, expressions, etc, but in terms of attitudes and opinions) in a way which people would immediately associate with being queer. and frankly this one member has done all i would do if i ever became an idol and wanted to signal to my fans that i was queer. so, while i wouldn't assume anyone's queer per say, i'd definitely say there's some members who'd surprise me if they turned out to be straight. but calling the entire group a bunch of gay people is,,, also lowkey weird imo. like, just as there's some members who'd surprise me if they turned out to be straight, there's some members who'd surprise me if they turned out to have any interest in people the same gender as them.
yet, there is so much homophobia in this fandom. it's definitely strongest amongst the "mentally dating my fave!" stans - those who are cishet and of the other gender, ofc. absolutely denying any possibility that their fave could possibly like ppl of the same gender as them... eurgh stay away. these ppl were absolutely vile about the fact that this one member (s.n: they're one of the members who surprise me if they were straight, but they also happen to have a bunch of cishet fans who're mentally married to them) practiced a certain art form that's strongly associated with the queer community. but there's also homophobia from those fans who accept the "queerness" as you may say it... you know. pushing the ship, fetishising the ship. but also the "oh this member is so fRuiTyYYyy!!1!!!11!!!" comments (at any rate, those which are based on stereotypes and are said jokingly, as if the queer existence is a joke). and also - the ones who peg the entire group as a group of gays. the ones who bullied queer kfans for expressing disappointment in what one member said. they (and this one would surprise me if they were even remotely interested in the same gender) made a comment in jest - which should not have been made in just. and ifans (many, of whom, i'm sure, were straight) bullied the queer kfans who were hurt. genuinely one of the most homophobic things i've ever seen from any fandom.
anyway another non-serious opinion on this group - let the main rapper rap, no one else is really needed tbh. we need more wjsn-style groups (larger groups with one solid rapper who is the only one who raps in the title, while the other weaker singers simply sing simpler lines, and can rap in the b-sides if they so wished) sighhh this just confirms that this group isn't wjsn (though they're known for being supportive of the lgbt community, and have a member or two i'd say are likely queer too), and is also on the larger side. not that y'all didn't guess who they are anyway.
