I have voted in previous elections but I know many people my age who don’t​

of course, ever since i was legally allowed to vote, i always have and cannot imagine otherwise. i know people who don't but luckily they're not close to me, i only told them that they shouldn't complain about politics if they didn't do their part by voting.

Yes, it's very important. And down the whole ballot too. People obsess over the presidency, but the people who are your local officials generally have a much larger day-to-day impact on your life.

I don't and I don't plan to vote in the near future. This thing I said earlier sums up my feelings.

Could I learn more about the local stuff and vote on that? Sure. But that's a time commitment that I don't currently care enough to look into all of it. So currently, I see no reason to go vote.

From what I see, 10 countries have mandatory voting and enforce it. A further 11 have it but don't enforce it. So it's definitely a minority thing.

They’re not mandatory here but you’re definitely encouraged to vote

You can force people to vote but you can't force them to care. Someone who doesn't care hurts those who care enough to research and vote for what they believe. Someone who doesn't care marks what ever and leaves. It essentially negates a good vote.

Better to mark whatever than not even attend
