I’d never get someone’s name tattooed on me (unless maybe if they’re dead) because they have the potential to hurt you one day and you’re stuck with their name forever​

I'm not a fan of writing tattoos anyway, since you need enough negative space to keep them readable.

I'd also never get a blackout. I don't understand the appeal at all, and they're apparently pretty unpleasant for healing too.

Right?! If I did something fandom related, it'd have to be an iykyk kinda deal, like a friend of mine has a mountain range that's a reference to her favorite book, but before I knew that, I thought it was just a pretty tattoo of the outdoors.

no references unless it's a child of yours or where you're from. Children and hometowns are forever - romantic partners are not, unless you've been married for maybe 20 years with no signs of it stopping.

Also a hard no to fandom tats. I was so deep in my obsession with this one band that I wanted a tattoo on my hip of their logo - I was adamant that I was going to get one! But guess what? They broke up in 2013, thankfully before I ever went through with it. . I also eventually lost interest, so in hindsight, I'm glad I didn't get that tat. Secret references are okay, like @centen pointed out, but if you go and get the band's logo and they break up... good luck trying to hide it.

I always forget these are a thing, even though there's a girl in my office complex who has hers done. It's really uncanny valley in person.

personally nothing as the idea of having something permanently written on myself makes me uncomfortable but if i were into tattoos, one i'd never choose is celebrity/art related. a tribute to a fictional character maybe as i'm mostly a movie fan and the average person doesn't know or care who created my favourite fictional characters or even a song lyric if it really meant a lot to me, but nothing related to an artist themselves as they might turn out to be trash later or i might simply lose interest in them. like if you asked me what tattoo i would have wanted to have a few years ago, i'd 100% say something taylor swift related and now she just keeps pissing me off with snoozefest albums, aliexpress-quality merch and giving out handwritten letters to rapists so i would regret my choice.

exactly what i came here to say, i know a few ppl with classic rock related tattoos and it takes everything in me not to mention that the bands they dedicated a part of their skin to have a pdf file as a vocalist
