should kpop fans boycott yg? (1 Viewer)

there's been a big debate about whether we as kpop fans should be supporting yg artists. this is because recently yg has been under fire for allegedly supporting prostitutes and other shady deals...
on one side, people think that supporting yg artists is putting money into ygs pockets so he can put more money into shady things, the other side thinks that yg artists are innocent and that they dont deserve to be boycotted for something that they had nothing to do with.

me personally, I dont think that yg artists should be boycotted, I stan blackpink, ive seen how hard these girls have worked and how much they've suffered under that company. im not gonna stop supporting them because of something they had nothing to do with. I feel like this definitely applies to other stans who stan yg artists.

I'm not against someone not buying albums or such in form of boycott, but petitions and such to remove artists from performing go too far for me.

I feel like kpop fans have known long time how shitty kpop companies can be, i mean everyone knows expect newest and most delulu fans, but regardless they continue to be into the genre and support the artist. Although now serious stuff about YGE has come out, it's not proven yet though not saying it didn't happen either, that doesn't mean stuff doesn't happen all the time in other companies too. Regardless of this, the artist are bound to the company so long their contract is there and even if the company is shitty, well if u want to support artist u want to support them.

I personally think right way is staying vocal about the issues, give the media coverage and finally in best case scenario result into criminal investigation, but not protest in a way that is aimed towards artists themselves. Like I have seen hate comments towards the artist themselves, not checking out their new stuff and so on, I find it just sad. Life of idol is flimsy and unpredictable already, there is no quarantees they will later on come up with new stuff with new better company.

even if the claims are true (which I kinda doubt) I dont think that boycotting the artists is gonna do anything... especially since the only people who are saying that theyre gonna boycott are casual listeners who dont rlly stan any of the artists...

That is not my point. My point is more companies should be boycotted if people follow that line of reasoning.

yes, I totally agree, I dont think that the issue should be swept under the rug, if the allegations are true then I hope yg gets punishment for it.
but boycotting and associating the artists to the scandal is too much, especially when they have nothing to do with this case.

SOme of it seems to come from YG antis that already think YG's artists are problematic and what not, and now kinda have justification for that they can use to shit on YG artists which is such shame. No one is saying it's okay.
I'm just saying it's empty and hypocritical to boycott only YG when most, if not all companies do it.
Prostituting to investors, pleasure groups, sponsoring: these are all things that have been exposed in the industry since over a decade ago. It's an open secret and has been for years.
The only reason YG is being dragged into this is because he was well disliked by the media compared to other Big 3 groups and even then Naver tried to shield him. Imagine thinking that even more powerful companies with death grips on the media are going to get exposed or high-up Korean businessmen, politician and media companies like SBS, MNET etc are going to get taken down.
They aren't.

If you truly were horrified by all this, you wouldn't be Stanning kpop.

yeah tbh i think that kpop fans and yg antis have been waiting for something like this to happen. I honestly feel like they care more about the fact that yg is taking a hit rn and not about the victims.

I agree, getting an investigation done on the company itself instead of trying to go through the artists will make a lot more impact since they are the ones who dictate what goes on in yg. fans aren't going to leave their faves for something that they didn't do, expecting them to boycott is just ridiculous...
