I was on a naming site looking for some Korean names when I came across this:

if you look at the name in the center, Wooyoung, you will find an f next to that name - they labeled it as feminine. Am I wrong, or isn't it usually used for boys like the one from Ateez???

Maybe they confused Wonyoung and Wooyoung? All the Wooyoungs I can think of (e.g. ATEEZ, 2PM) are male.

that's what I was thinking lol and Wonyoung is labeled as unisex, but idrk any male idols named Wonyoung...

I think a lot of korean names can go either way.

might depend on the hanja too
honestly imho the best resources are the ones in the target language then you can google translate the pages into english
I forgot the site, but there’s a korean one that nicely tracks name popularity throughout time and offers all the govt approved hanja characters for the names, and the gender breakdown is a feature on there

I would guess that it may be a language difference that was lost in translation. There is at least one female idol named Wooyoung (Yang Wooyoung from Purfles), but more male idols do come to mind with that name .
