i tried reading My Year of Rest and Relazation by Otessa Moshfegh a couple weeks ago since i had heard many good things about it.
tell me why i absolutely hated it

it is so overhyped and pointless.
it's gross.
i would not touch this book with a 10 foot pole.

it's known as "weird girl literature" but it was weird DEROGATORY not like a fun and quirky weird.

maybe i missed the point by several miles but i feel like it was such a useless and horribly written book. the main character is so annoying and overly sexualizes everything she sees and touches.

was already questioning the book in the early chapters with the hunter gatherers argument but then the colonialism chapters happened and I stopped read
it’s good as a fun read to take nothing away from, the actual arguments are questionable

The Horse Whisperer - it was written in a way that made it sound so confusing! the author used runon after runon after runon in this book. what a waste of trees!

the seven husbands of evelyn hugo or however that book was called, people made it out to be some pinnacle of sapphic literature despite its title but the lesbian relationship is barely explored outside of describing how miserable they were together
