But i would've given that award to any other song other than Kendrick and T Swift, and that Bar Song.
Those were more forgetable imo.
Chappel, Billie or Beyonce sbould've won imo.

Sabrina's Please x3 wasn't as strong as Espresso for winning, imo.

People liked it but it didn’t have that “I am going to shove it down your throat” power.

But honestly his award didn’t bother me as much as others. Like Beyonce winning best country album against actual country artists… what the fuck?! Or Chappel Roan winning rookie artist of the year (but that ones just personal)

Honestly I think it was well deserved. I mean even Beyoncé herself was surprised she won. A lot of artists genre bend and she executed it well. She is also from the south so it didn’t just come out of nowhere. I do get what you mean though

I think it’s perfectly okay to genre bend, its shows versatility as an artist. However she has solidified herself in genres other than country so to win a country award, in my opinion, is like a slap in the face to artists who dedicated their careers to the country genre. And this is not hate towards Beyonce as I do like Texas Hold Em btw. I totally see your point - it’s a grey area for sure.

usually I agree that soty and roty are split but I think nlu genuinely was so ubiquitous that it doesn’t deserve any less, it has the critical appeal as well as the commercial success to back it up
drake vs kendrick beef was one for the ages and nlu being the victory lap in kendrick’s back to back responses I think also represents the impact best — why else would drake, arguably one of the biggest artists of the world, start suing everyone under the sun except for kendrick rn over the song
I am surprised by the lack of billie though since the academy tends to love her, chappell I think her case was similar w kendrick but to a more limited audience

I definitely agree with you. It’s hard to see artists that actually have careers in one specific genre and not getting recognized for it because of just one album

I literally don't care about beefs, and beefs being the propeller for a song does little to nothing for me. I don't like drake songs either, and as far as i have listened to kendrick he has better songs
