Can a person be manipulative if they’re not inherently violent or threatening? Like this person doesnt really do much that irks me but they’ve been pushing me to go FAR against my moral compass and also making me a little uncomfortable at times. I don’t want to confront them because I don’t want to see a side of them I’ll regret bringing out

Yes. Sometimes people are manipulative without even having a specific malicious intent beyond "I want to get the thing I want" and they know they can get it by being passive aggressive or "pity poor me" or "if I just push this a little, I know they'll cave, and then I can push again."

in fact the worst form of manipulation since if done correctly it can be very hard to tell both to the victim and outsiders
