Two years ago I was giving questions in a trivia thread and this happened:
California is very know for having earthquakes. But if we go by sheer number, Alaska is the top state as far as earthquakes go. In fact, Alaska had double the earthquakes California had last year, with Alaska having 19k and California having 9.5k. The reason California is more known for them is because 1) Alaska has 4x as much land as California, but California still has 50x more people in total, making it way more population dense, and 2) Alaskas earthquakes are often less noticeable than in California because of the geology. But in the end, they still take the spot for number one in the US
