Water scarcity, fast fashion industry, illegal fishing, pharmaceutical pollution, food waster, puppy mills, whaling, and tourism
are just a few examples I can think of. I an sure there is more, humans really are destructive towards this planet ​

agreed on fast fashion, fuck shein now and forever. also, people using chatgpt for easily googleable shit is really damaging the earth and people aren't shamed for it enough, same for any generative AI really. sometimes i sound like a broken record with this but it terrifies me how these days people around me use a planet killing technology for help in the simplest ever tasks like you guys really can't do anything 😭😭

true, but it sucks even worse when thrift shops are filled with the shein polyester trash and it becomes more difficult to find anything of quality but i'm never giving up on them anyway, like 95% of my clothes is second-hand bought and i don't intend on ever changing that

I don’t buy anything “in season” unless it is a necessity like the snow pants I bought; needed them for one of my jobs as we could be outside with the kids in below zero weather. I grew up on hand-me-downs and still think they are great. I also purchase a lot from thrift stores. If it is not, it is the stuff on clearance racks that the stores will be throwing into a landfill soon enough anyways.

tbh after the selection in germany this weekend I have given up that humans will ever change for the better.
well, earth has already used up 70% of its lifetime, so its kinda ressuring we wont be alive forever, its what we deserve.

While some of the information from the book Silent Spring by Rachel Carson is somewhat outdated (this includes banning specific pesticides including DDT and specific species of animal, plant, and insects that are vulnerable and or extinct from the book), it still is a good discussion when it comes environmental awareness and the impact it has on modern environmental movements.

Yes, I bought and read this book for my environmental science class for community college years ago. It's a good read imo.

well, earth has already used up 70% of its lifetime, so its kinda ressuring we wont be alive forever, its what we deserve.

At this point humanity is trying to see if life can exist on other planets. Are people just going to keep finding new planets to live on when they destroy the previous one? Eventually karma is going to come back to humanity
