Depends on the high school you go to and if your state/region thinks it's a specialized course.
Some places, all high school have it. Other places you have to apply to special and advanced schools with better funding to get access to those classes plus other vocational classes.

it's called government here - they consider it part of social studies - and I took it in my senior year. iirc I'm pretty sure I flunked, though, bc I kept getting distracted by the teacher's attractiveness lol

Here we have a “civics” class in high school which is probably the most similar thing. In college and university (yes they are two separate things here) we have political science.

This, it's almost certainly school dependent. Like my high school only had two language course options (Spanish and French), but my friend teaches at a school that offers ~20.

Dnag 😭 my middle school offered spanish and asl (i already knew a good bit bc my mom used to teach it and kept a couple of the textbooks so i didn't take it) in my second year but when i got to high school, they only offered spanish
They also have an English Second Language class but it's obviously limited to the non english speaking people 😅

depends on where you're from.

here in india (i'm talking about cbse) a class called social and political life (which was mostly basic pol sc with a bit of basic sociology) was a part of our social studies course (which also included history and geography) in middle school (6th-8th grade).

then we had pol sc proper in 9th and 10th grade as a part of the social studies course (which was like the middle school social studies except you also had economics).

in 11th and 12th grade, there's no one subject called social studies, one can study each of the disciplines that came under it as independent subjects. so pol sc too can be taken, but it's optional. anyway you can take it up in college even if you didn't do it in 11th and 12th grade.

My high school had more, there were 3 or 4 languages. But we were also told that colleges would prefer that we stick with the original language we picked, so the only reasonable choice was to stick with Spanish
