I'm watching Desperate Housewives rn and i'm fed up with Tom. I know Lynette is not perfect either, and does too much when it comes to her family but seems like Tom is just doing what he wants.
After having a heartattack but surviving he decides to change his whole life in a midlife crisis. He quits his old job, and they buy a restaurant to have a pizza business, he buys a sports car, he organizes a band with his friends and at one point he wanted to quit the restaurant too and go on a one year trip with his family, WITH MONEY THEY DIDN'T HAVE. Lynette gave up her career to raise their 4 children and was supportive throughout, but she also went through cancer and raised Tom's child from another woman (an affair before the marriage).
The last straw for me was when they had no money after their son almost got into jail for arson (which he didnt commit btw, but lawyers are expensive) and Lynette wanted to sell the restaurant cuz it was losing money. But noo Tom didn't wanna give up on his dream when his family was on the brink of bankrupcy, and fired their staff and put their kids to work. One night when a group of high school kids come into the restaurant the teenage boys don't wanna work cuz their bullies are at the table and they would be made fun of in school. As a response Tom pushes his own son to the wall aggressively and demands from him to work.
How can u get to the point u attack ur own son? They eventually sell the restaurant, but at what cost???
And when Lynette wants to introduce him to a man with great work opportunities for him he is still sulking and won't take the job. HOWEVER, when Lynette is also has a chance to get the same job suddenly he feels like he is backstabbed by his own wife??? HIS WIFE WHO IS STRUGGLING TO PAY THEIR BILLS.
