The latest major topic of discussion on various online communities is the allegation that Bang Si Hyuk had purposely ignored the NewJeans members when they greeted him in their encounter.
This allegation took the spotlight when one of NewJeans' members' parents shared with the media that there were instances in which NewJeans' members expressed disappointment when Chairman Bang Si Hyuk didn't receive the members greeting to him.
In an interview with Ilgan Sports, a parent of NewJeans opened up about the concerns and details surrounding the ongoing dispute from the perspective of the parents. During the interview, the parent shared that "HYBE's Chairman Bang Si Hyuk didn't even greet our kids, which seems to be a similar experience for other kids after their debut," and "One child was even in an elevator with him, and he didn't acknowledge the greeting."
This issue garnered attention further when the parent revealed that a HYBE official responded that Chairman Bang must've not recognized the girls because "Chairman Bang might have face-blindness."
The HYBE official's recent statement has ignited discussions across numerous online communities, with a substantial number of netizens criticizing the explanation as lacking consideration and expressing skepticism regarding Bang Si Hyuk's purported face-blindness.
On May 14, alleged evidence was uploaded revealing that Bang Si Hyuk has a hard time recognizing people's faces. One netizen posted screen captures of 'American Hustle Life,' which aired 10 years ago on Mnet, where the BTS members were seen candidly expressing their dissatisfaction toward Big Hit Music.
During the show, when V takes his turn to talk, Bang Si Hyuk is seen asking, "Who are you, the one next to Namjoon?"
that was one of the contentions raised by NJZGood lordI mean I’m no CEO but if someone’s waving at me and I don’t know who it is, I usually wave back and hope they’re waving at me and not someone behind me. Like it makes me feel awkward, but I’m not just going to ignore every greeting someone gives me just because idk them
It depends on the situation but oftentimes not much. My family and friends know about it, so if a situation where I need to find them arrives, they know not to depend solely on me and that they may find it easier if they also actively search for me. I also know their outfits and often work based on that, though that isn’t perfect. It was more of an issue in uni, because I was surrounded by people who I mostly didn’t know, but sometimes had to. But if I remain in smaller environments with fewer people it’s not as bad, though to this day if I get separated from someone in a crowded place, like a store for example, I do immediately get nervous. But I also logically know that they’ll be able to find me if I can’t find them myself.@Ahsoka
do you have any major difficulties with the face blindness in your life? like with friends or family or workers or classmates?

It’s easier with family and usually close friends partly because they know what to expect from me, but also because I’ve learned more cues to use, such as the exact outfits they wear, their body type, gait, and so on. With people I barely know I’m a lot more limited because stuff like clothes or hairstyle can change quickly, so it makes it harder to identify them with fewer cues and fewer known habits.is it usually more of an issue with strangers compared to people you've known a while
like does your issue affect your family and close friends?
and are certain skin colours or ethnicities better or worse for you or do you not see that at all? It’s easier with family and usually close friends partly because they know what to expect from me, but also because I’ve learned more cues to use, such as the exact outfits they wear, their body type, gait, and so on. That’s also situationaland are certain skin colours or ethnicities better or worse for you or do you not see that at all?
interesting and is face blindness like random (I presume you were born with the condition) there's nobody else in your family who has it?That’s also situationalpartly because if I’m in an environment where there’s virtually no Asians for example, I can tell an Asian apart more easily because I see the difference in skin color between them and the others, but now if I’m in an environment where Asians are very common, that wouldn’t help at all. Broadly though, I can say that I have an easier time with white people vs some others because there’s a more notable variation in natural hair color (though brown is predominant and therefore brown haired people are harder) and people who are black or mixed can be easier because there’s more natural variation in skin color than white people usually. So those specific aspects can help, but it usually does end up being more based on the current situation of people around me. Also this makes me think back to the fact that by best friend until college had distinct red hair, so I got lucky there

Face blindness isn’t very well understood yet. You can be born with it, like me, or it can be obtained as a result of a brain injury (that’s actually the more long term studied form). In those cases, the face blindness remains even after the injury is fully treated. For those born with it, there has been evidence that it may have a genetic component, but there must isn’t much data given that congenital face blindness (ie it being present at birth) only became accepted by scientists in the 1990s, so there just hasn’t been very much time to research. In my immediate family no one is known to have it, but I have a very small known family, and most of them were born quite some time before congenital face blindness even really became known. So while there is thought there may be genetic factors for those who had it from birth, definitive studies on this haven’t been done enough to prove one way or another.interesting and is face blindness like random (I presume you were born with the condition) there's nobody else in your family who has it?
