"Serval" is derived from cerval, i.e. Portuguese for lynx.

“Caracal” is derived from a Turkish name, 'Karrah-kulak' or 'Kara-coulac', meaning 'black ear'.

What’s funny is that serval is a Portuguese word too, but it was borrowed from French, after French borrowed cerval from Portuguese to make the word serval

I thought a caracal would be fun until I did research. ALWAYS research pets. Those cats are loud and psycho! I need a @Moguri level of domestication. She'll talk back but she won't kill and eat me. I just wish my cat was nicer to my dog or my dog wasn't such a coward.
