Because there’s one niche they could fit so well, which is the niche of “I want to go to some event but idk who else has the same interest and I’d feel awkward going alone” Theres going to be some history events happening soon, and I am very interested, but I’d just feel awkward and out of place by myself. But I don’t know anyone else who’d want to go. So I may need to sit that one out and hope a similar opportunity arises another time

Going alone is an option for sure, it’s not an event that’s inherently not suited to it. My social anxiety would just make it stressful, and while I know it could be a good opportunity it’s to work on, it still makes me hesitate
