Doyeon was such a mood tbh. A rank trainee with the talent and visuals to backup her popularity. I’m still shocked whenever I rewatch season 1 that she didn’t receive that much screen time in comparison to the rest of the top 11.

SAME. I feel like if she was given the chance then she could have been competing with Somi and Sejeong. She really shined in every performance she was in.

I feel like people didn't give her credit for her talents and skills during that season though (or even in IOI) most of the time discussion about her was only her visuals and not her dancing, vocals, etc.

In hindsight Fantagio sent one of the strongest batches of trainees on the show. Doyeon, Yojung, and Soomin were all good vocally and dance wise.

Honestly that whole first generation of A rank trainees were just iconic. But you’re right. Doyeon was always hyped for her visuals and most people ignored her vocals and dancing.

Best concept evaluation center and nothing will beat that performance for me. The best song won.

They really were so great

After that performance I wanted that whole team to debut as the group. They were perfection honestly and that song was so good.
They had power vocals in Yeunjung and Sira. Sohee and Chaekyung would have made great lead vocalists. Doyeon as a vocal and dancer. They were only missing a super strong dancer but they were great all the same.

I don't know why IOI didn't follow that music direction for their titles since Jinyoung's songs were so popular. I would have been into their music more if they had stuck with that sound and concept. 'At the Same place' and 'When the Cherry Blossoms Fade' were beautiful!

Yeah I think that's one of the reasons I fell out with the 4th season as well. They really need to fix that screen time thing before everyone gets tired of it

Plus people say Hangyul is evil edited and that's why he can't make it but that means nothing. And doesn't MNET really want Tony?

Hmm, trying to understand Korean's taste is something that would be pretty difficult I would say, lol. I too agree that Hyunbin is the best looking Starship trainee and might be the second most 'talented'(i.e ready) out of the 4 but he was given the center position for Blood Sweat and Tears and honestly, he bombed it. I had him as my second favourite Starship trainee prior to that but I absolutely thought he wasted the position and Yunsol would have done ten times better the job.

I was so disappointed I couldn't even finish watching the whole performance due to how bland the whole performance felt. I definitely saw the importance of center position after that stage.

I would like to think that I have similar preferences to Korean netizens so I think the main attractive-ness that appeals to them(and myself) is the star factor, where they compel your attention to them. Visuals would be second after the star factor so Hyunbin imo loses out in the compelling segment, where he doesn't stand out? Even with his visuals which would have easily propelled him into higher rankings but yeah. :\

Sorry if this offended some people but it is my honest take as a viewer who came into this show unbiased without seeing ANY pre-show photos or know about any trainees including the debuted ones.

Till now, I absolutely understand all the rankings besides BaekJin and Seungyoun but the latter's definitely rising a lot after the reset so I'm glad the Koreans' taste so far aligns with mine. I too, might want to change some of the rankings for my own preferences in having a more solid and ready to debut team but I am sure some of the people will drop and rise so this is the fun of the whole show to me. :)

I don't trust Koreans because when I stanned Daniel since I first saw him in Pick Me video, Koreans were trashing us international fans for even supporting him, that apparently we have an eye cancer, lol (look at the link I posted above) and then they suddenly became his fans, those 33 people who voted for him during Sorry Sorry, were only ones to recognise him.

About Hyunbin, I went back to look at his fancam and I can agree he doesn't look very charismatic and has stiff movements, but the thing that bothers me is that he shows no emotions? Honestly, the whole team isn't good in general (even if the guy you mentioned had been centre), and I don't know if it's because they don't fit together or something else, so I want to give him benefit of doubt because if he was a bad dancer/singer, he wouldn't have got A in re-evaluation. If he can start to love the camera, I think he'd look a lot better, because right now he looks like he's bothered by it.

And to be honest.. there's barely anyone with star factor this season. Unless someone goes viral for their fanam, I think the one that comes closest is Seungyeon for me in Love Shot team, but the guy's already debuted idol and an all-arounder so he knows how to work the stage. Even my own picks get barely any screentime and it's not even up to MNET to assume who has star power because they don't know themselves seeing who they push. :/

I can also see Junho getting a slightly similar ranking of Baejin but he might also pull off a trainee who is very popular from the first half of the show but slowly sinking until he is eliminated, that kind of case happened from the past seasons.

It's so disappointing that Junho fans are so lazy to vote. Why he doesn't have a Jihoon like fans. Jihoon was also got a barely screen time but still manage to get into the top 3 every episodes and make his debut.

I like the make up and styling this season. They make a trainees look into an expensive idol unlike on season 2 the make up was so dull, I don't know if the eye bag was natural or it's just a make up style.

On this upcoming episode Tony looks so dashing. I can't believe that was him. Also on this new episode I will observe the rank of Dohyun, I want to know, if his rank is out of the top 10 or not.

Someone said he'll get evil edited in his team and that might affect his rank, but I'm not so sure? Because many times if people have a good opinion about you, they won't fall for it. They did that twice with Daniel, showed him as an incompetent leader, who couldn't teach other boys but then the boys who got eliminated praised him and MNET didn't show any of that. A lot is lacking. It must be two main vocals and they also need decent rapper and dancers. I don't know what MNET is going for with this group.

I wish I still had the excitement, that I had for S2, this season as well. I even thought about not watching today's episode.

Back then I didn't mind watching all the stages but I'm definitely not interested in most of them. :(
