Define a half-hearted appology. Define an appology. Realistically unless we all become telepathic we'll never actually know how sincere any appology is or is not. I also think no matter how sincere an appology is people won't take it 90% of the time, especially in kpop fandoms. This is why I generally lack empathy for most "offended" people. Nowadays, there's little or no forgiveness until someone commits suicide and then suddenly everyone realizes they might have been kind of harsh. Offense requires two guilty parties. One to do the offending and one to choose to be offended.

Apologies that don’t seem to have any genuine backing just make it harder for anyone who does genuinely want to apologize to do so because most apologies end up at least somewhat questionable. If people only apologized when they genuinely wanted to, maybe we wouldn’t need to write off as many apologies as fake.

I will add on what the panda said and that a lot of times the half heartedness of the apology is defined by the recipient of the apology and only they can make a determination on whether the apology is accepted or not

Furthermore even if such an apology is accepted it doesn't automatically absolve the person of all "crimes" - if you hit my car with your car it might be an accident and you might apologise and I might accept your apology but I'm still going to claim your insurance or sue you for the cost of my car

Also depending the nature of the "crime" the question is - is an apology even required? to certain fans dating news is not something that warrants a "proper apology". To others it is a grave offense of the highest magnitude. Each "crime" therefore is subject to it's own merits and whether the idol needs them to apologise at all?

And I know people are thinking about legit things, but I'm also thinking about the nonsense "apologies" for "sorry I was tired and my eyes were unfocused." Just because some people are loud doesn't mean they're actually owed an apology.

Never has it ever happened for me to be offended by some shit an idol does. Like from what I remember in my fandom ppl were disappointed by Sowon taking a photo with a N*zi mannequin and were crying and was like dont u ppl have a life beyond that to be waiting for an apology .
