three big harry potter fanfic authors are going to release one of their fanfics (all of them used to be draco & hermione fanfics) as a book this year
good to see that more fanfic authors receive the attention they deserve

You can, as a self publisher
But even then you need platforms who are willing to sell your book

But all the authors I posted here were picked up by some of the biggest publishing houses

that's great for them
I think there is a decline in both people reading books and also the rise of (I think) AI generated writings

@Selfmate I think there is something to be said about the decline of traditional publishing too, like a lot of forms of writing (like criticism) are much scarcer and in much more niche publishings now
magazine sales are falling everywhere but china apparently where fan culture basically holds it alive, so many writers have moved onto substack

yeap and newspapers and magazines and lots of "traditional" media are seeing a massive decline. Everything is moving to online these days like ebooks
