British heat is something else (1 Viewer)

Is it just me or is the British heat borderline unbearable. I know our homes are built to keep in heat and we don't have air conditioning. But I went shopping earlier and I'd have happily bought a camping chair and just sat in the freezer aisle.

If I was younger I'd be like, "no, it's horrible, I can't cope."
I used to work 12 hour shifts in a factory where the temperature would go to 30+ degrees (and we'd be doing hard physical work).
So now I'm like pfft, this is nothing.

I hate the heat, pure and simple. Anything above 20C is awful to me. I like a nice breeze, it being dry and warm and some drinks on ice. But because I work hard and stuck out in the fields it really gets to me a lot.

Not British but I can’t stand the heat either. We have air conditioning at least, but when the heatwave hit earlier we hadn’t put it in yet and and ended up migrating to the couple rooms with some semblance of air conditioning

i don't live there but i've heard people say how awful it is and tbh as someone who feels like they're being boiled alive when it's like 28 degrees celsius, i can only imagine what it feels like. imo it's also terribly ignorant of people living in different countries to laugh at this type of heat because they've known higher temperatures and have it "worse". like it should be basic knowledge that some places are simply NOT used to any sudden heat even if that exact temperature would be considered low somewhere.
