So most people now don't know the meaning of freshman, sophmore, junior, or senior. So my teachers have been getting excited that i actually say that I'm a junior. Well, I've had a few kids ask me what grade I'm in so i say "I'm a junior" they just say ok and move on. But apparently today when i get asked this and say 11th bc i didn't expect them to know based on past experience. I had a kid I've told on the first couple days that i was in 11th flip out bc i never told them.... But i did.... I told them i was a junior... Apparently they don't know what that means 💀

Anyways, afterward, they continue talking on this subject and they use the words freshman and senior........ Very embarrassing
Now i look like the idiot who doesn't know what it means

I also don’t understand why it’s embarrassing. If they assumed you don’t know what it means they wouldn’t use the terms themselves so they must not have thought that. But I also don’t get why actually not knowing the terms would be embarrassing if the majority of people around you actually don’t know what it means. After all, you don’t think everyone who doesn’t know something is a moron right? You couldn’t unless you consider yourself one too, which I assume you don’t.

Why do you care what others think about you? And how do you know what they think?
Many people are even too busy with themselves to think about others.

But if they think you don’t know what they mean, why would they use them later in the conversation? Either way, it seems super unlikely anyone would actually think that. They’d have to be crazy judgmental to do so
