The US really seems so lax compared to many many countries in this regard. In my state anyone can pick up your medication, even the most tightly controlled ones. And they don’t even ask questions when you do. They just scan your drivers license and send you on your merry way

Now that you mention it, the last time I picked up meds, I didn't even give an ID. I confirmed my address, told the pharmacist I had no questions, and that was it.

That’s normal here for non controlled medications. Controlled have slightly more restrictions. I assume any controlled medication in my state requires ID, but schedule 2 meds (the most controlled of the legal but controlled meds) definitely do.

Fair! It just seems funny to me that there are literally no requirements to prove I'm the patient or even related to the person the medicine is prescribed for. A doctor is required to get the prescription, but no evidence is required to get the actual drugs.

It's not something I'd given much thought to before now lol.

True. They just ask us for our name and birthday (not year) and use the first 3 letters of the first and last name. I even saw it fail once, because apparently someone was given the wrong medication because another customer had the same first 3 letters of their first and last name and has the same birthdate, so the system pulled up the wrong information and they gave him the other dudes meds
