TW Eating disorders will be mentioned in later parts of the thread
I have joined many kcord servers either bc I liked the group or because I found it a good opportunity to make friends. I vividly remember being in one server where I was treated fairly nicely by the other server members but there were always cases where I was definitely being treated with a bit more severe punishment for otherwise mundane acts (that have no explicit or implied inclusion in the official server rules). One time I'm not sure why but I just decided to rant about how I hated gfriend. It was half ragebait because I was in a server full of gg stans for god sakes but also because I just genuinely dont care for the girls for a multitude of reasons. Maybe hate is a strong word to some but I've grown to hold the belief that depending on how serious your words are, it's not that big of a deal. So I went on my little troll spiel until people began replying to my msgs getting genuinely angry at something I found to be nothing more than silly. Then after a bit I received a warning in the server with a message attached to it that I don't remember but it was something along the lines of "gfriend outdid". Figures. It would've been one thing if this was done as a joke and promptly removed after a few minutes because I do things like this as a small tease to my server members but don't permanently keep the warnings/server punishments on them. But they never removed this and while others would've taken it as a joke given ways they'd be hostile toward me other times made me feel this was genuine malice. But that's not even thw worst I've endured at the hands of a kcord servers though, as some are just plain fucking cruel with no catch or punchline. I used to be in this other kcord server a while back that I believe was mostly gg centered and had a lot of loona fans there. I don't want to make it seem like this is only a problem with gg stans, but I see a heavy emphasis on jokes relating to bodyweight or people being "big" from the gg stan side of the kpop community and I think that's largely due in part to how the standards for female idols are up to a higher standard so some (oddly enough) mirror this behavior perpetuate and toxic body culture in their everyday life. Im not saying theyre sole culprits but the example im about to mention is pretty incriminating. I was in the server for a while at this point and at time I kept repeating "im nayeon" again to ragebait the server members but not really cause any harm. Then they started calling me fat, telling me to starve myself, and making other insulting comments about how much (they assumed) I ate which was totally and not fucking out of pocket. I tried to explain how because I was and still am struggling with disordered eating that I'd prefer if they didn't "joke" that way with me but then they tried to pin the responsibility of triggering server users on me somehow by saying the mention of me having an eating disorder was a "trauma dump". Im sorry but go the hell outside if that's what you took from my messages. Go touch grass and get fresh air. I've met some genuinely cool people on kcord but I feel it needs to be said that so many servers cultivate a weird culture around them

I was bullied off another forum once for listening to Simple Plan, so I can relate to the Gfriend bit. The user basically gave me a death threat. I thought she was making a mean joke at first so brushed it off and kept posting, but the first post I made got a reply from the same user of "Didn't I tell you to d-word?" (paraphrasing) That was when I... idr, I think I got banned for that, but I might've just quit instead. This was in like 2005, so... but they did eventually remove my account. Some people just need to get a life and touch grass, etc.

There were pretty similar reactions when I 'confessed' in a Metal forum that I discovered K-Pop. I left the forum because I felt like an outsider. Unfortunately narrow minded people (so called 'elitists') are part of all music scenes. I wouldn't take them too serious but if you feel alone in an online community, it's time to search for a better alternative.

yeah, and on top of that, my mom was actually the one who suggested it. She wasw getting sick of me being on fan forums all the time and wanted me to join a general interest forum, or at least a general music interest one. Well, that "suggestion" drove me to listen to music I wasn't even into and pretend like I fit in with the rest of the forums when I really didn't. It was awful - and I even went into the closet on all my music interests for fear that people would put me down if I ever shared them. :crycry:
