The price of being super popular, I guess. That was their peak and also the peak of their hate. I don't see much hate for GFriend nowadays. It's always the same shit about their "music sounding the same" or "flopping" unlike before where every move they do gets scrutinized and misunderstood. I still have some really old AKP threads from 2016-2017 saved in my bookmarks about people hating GFriend or the girls being "problematic."

Yeah it's really stupid. I still see it these days how their music "sounds the same" and "flopfriend". But you're right, it's just mainly isolated to these two and the hate really died down compared to 2016-2017. I guess most of them couldn't come up with anything new and just resorted to calling them flops with nothing to back it up just to justify their hate since everything backfired for them
