Three remaining NewJeans members to return to ADOR, ending year-long K-pop clash

The remaining three members of girl group NewJeans will also return to ADOR, putting an end to a year of confrontation between the five K-pop singers and their agency.

News came at around 7:45 p.m., shortly after members Haerin and Hyein announced their return to ADOR, that members Minji, Danielle and Hanni will also return to ADOR.

The news comes a year after all five members of NewJeans announced at a press conference on Nov. 28, 2024, that their exclusive contracts with ADOR were effectively null and void because the agency failed to adequately protect them.

The five members have since been involved in a legal battle against ADOR, which has filed for court injunctions against their activities outside the company. Separately, ADOR asked the court to determine whether the members' argument was legally valid.

On Oct. 30, the Seoul Central District Court ruled that NewJeans members' arguments were not sound and that they must remain with the agency until the actual expiry date of their contracts, as specified in the terms of their agreement.

ADOR revealed on the 12th, "NewJeans members Haerin and Hyein have expressed their intention to continue their activities with ADOR."

The agency explained, "After careful consideration with their families and thorough discussions with ADOR, the two members decided to respect the court's ruling and comply with the exclusive contract."

It added, "ADOR will do its best to ensure Haerin and Hyein can continue their smooth entertainment activities," and "We respectfully request fans to refrain from speculation about the members and ask for your warm support."

Meanwhile, in November of last year, they declared the termination of the contract through a press conference, claiming ADOR violated exclusive contract obligations. After that, they effectively halted their activities, only fulfilling scheduled plans. The five members then announced their independent path under the new team name 'NJZ', but the court applied a brake by accepting ADOR's preliminary injunction.

Last month, Seoul Central District Court Civil Agreement Division 41, Jung Hoi-il Presiding Judge, ruled in favor of the plaintiff in the lawsuit filed by ADOR against the five NewJeans members to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract.

NewJeans Hyein’s Father Persuaded Haerin And Hyein To Return To ADOR

He even filed a civil lawsuit against his wife.

NewJeans Hyein’s father played a massive part in Hyein and Haerin’s return to ADOR, according to NewDaily.

Based on the new report, he was the only parent who had opposed terminating the group’s contract with ADOR. NewDaily also claims that Hyein’s father persuaded both his daughter and Haerin to return to the agency.

He had been against the contract termination from the very beginning. Reports also revealed that Hyein’s father even filed a civil lawsuit against his wife over legal guardianship rights to ensure his daughter goes back to ADOR.

Reports now indicate that Hyein’s father — the only parent who had opposed terminating the group’s contract with ADOR — persuaded both his daughter and Haerin to decide on returning to the agency.

It was further revealed that Hyein’s father, who had been against the contract termination from the start, even filed a civil lawsuit against his wife over legal guardianship rights in order to bring his daughter back to ADOR.
