Mitochondria has its own DNA, thought to have happened because of mitochondria originally being its own bacteria before being engulfed by a eukaryotic cell. Unlike nuclear DNA, which is half maternal and half paternal, mitochondrial DNA comes exclusively or almost exclusively from the mother.

Mitochondrial DNA? In some way probably, but tbh with science basically everything can kill you in theory under the right circumstances
