I learned about pep squads, which are similar to all star cheerleading in the US, but not quite the same. Which do you prefer? I’ll post a video of a very good team for each, and put some of the differences. If you dont want to watch the whole video I get it (well I don’t but i accept it
), but you can just skip through for an idea.
Pep squads:
Pep squads:
- Definitely higher difficulty in pyramids, baskets (the big throws), and some stunts
- Comparable tumbling (theirs is on non spring floor)
- A bit messier overall, less consistency
- Jumps aren’t as present or as good
- Have sections more stereotypically “cheer” related with props
- Longer routines
- More aerobic type dancing
- Music is more basic and less varied
- Less difficulty some balance aspects of stunts sometimes
- Higher level of flexibility in stunts
- Tumbling is harder, but on a spring floor
- More dynamic
- More dance focused
- Typically a bit cleaner, more consistency expected
- Music is usually custom and more varied
