I like dystopian books, so I'm happy to be reading it again, but consuming it better with the book in front of me, instead of being read to me

I have read it, and I liked the first one, but the series as a whole has the same stumbling block a lot of dystopia series have, which is: once you leave the "wouldn't this be wild?" story in the first book and try to back into explaining the entire situation and how it got to that place, it ends up having a lot of kind of nonsensical world building.

I like dystopian books, so I'm happy to be reading it again, but consuming it better with the book in front of me, instead of being read to me

I like dystopia as a genre too, it can be very interesting

no, but we read 1984 in high school. I did read it on my own time in like late elem or early middle school, but I think I was too immature for it. I was still used to my "plotless" Beverly Cleary and Babysitters' Club books. (which isn't to say they didn't have plots, just not high-fantasy plots like The Giver).

yeah. I grew up with a learning disability, so I would continue to read BC and BSC until seventh or eighth grade. lol long books with heavy plots just weren't it for me yet.

I did read the Giver in 8th grade English I believe (for some reason we read and analyzed at least one dystopian from 7th-10th grade, it's all a blur T-T). It was...interesting
