It kinda depends. For a lot of people who died or suffered as a result of the revolution and reign of terror, it definitely sucked. From the standpoint of people getting more rights and spreading to revolutionary ideals to other downtrodden people in other countries it was good. From a standpoint of all the people who died in the napoleonic wars it was pretty bad. And so on, with such major world events there were always those who suffered, those whose lives were improved, and those who kinda suffered but also their lives were improved. History is really messy from that standpoint
