Now, after seeing both Sinners and Marty Supreme, I can finally say that Sinners fans are wrong at the WRONG MOVIE, or at least should have another target. There's no reason to be mad at Marty Supreme when they've only got 2 wins so far in the awards season, both because of Timothee Chalamet, while Sinners has 6!
And like only two award shows have been on and Chalamet has won over Jordan only ONCE AT THE CRITIC'S CHOICE, THEY WEREN'T EVEN NOMINATED IN THE SAME CATEGORY AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES. CAN PEOPLE PLEASE GET THEIR HEADS OUT OF THE GUTTER!?
I see people going like 'Sinners is the people's choice' but these awards are voted on by a committee. These have never been people's choices. If it was people's choice there would also be Wicked and Kpop Demon Hunters and fucking idk disney movies. I'm not saying these movies are bad I'm saying the cinephile/industry world is different from the mainstream one and people need to recognise that. That's what you gotta complain about, not fucking Marty Supreme which is a great movie that I think no complainer has actually seen.
Micheal B. Jordan is a great actor, Sinners is a great movie, but many other great movies have been released this year. There's a discussion to be had with racism in the industry and if marginalised creatives get their roses, but we should wait for the season to wrap up with the Oscars to really analyse it instead of going for Chalamet who won over ONCE. Nobody goes after the secret agent guy, Wagner Moura, who won over him in the Golden Globes. It sucks that instead of celebrating a BRAZILIAN ACTOR people gotta complain.
