Carrie Nation was a proponent of the temperance movement in the US. But while many people showed their disapproval of alcohol through actions such as protesting, praying, and hymns, Carrie Nations preferred using rocks, hatchets, and property destruction to get her message across. It became a running joke to put “all nations welcome except Carrie” in bars at that time.
