When I first moved to the city, I lived in a basement apartment. Got used to all sorts of noises. Cats copulating was the main disturbance But the one I didnt understand was a weird hollow moaning sounds. No one lived above me at the time and it wasnt wind tunneling.

And my current apartment is haunted with lord knows who. It's an old building.
I hear random creeks, doors swoosh without any wind. The first year, I heard a lot of mumbling coming from my fire escape but no one would be out there on any of the floors.
It's died down. I think whatever ghost lives here feels bad because I spook easily o.o so it hasnt done much lately.

I think I'd cry and stay with a friend...permanently

Idk how others do it but I NEVER WANT TO LIVE ALONE I am a coward, I need someone to protect me from bugs that might come in, weirdo strangers, neighbors and ghosts too and I watch true crime so that doesn't help my paranoia

Luckily, I'm really close with my neighbors and they're 3 steps away. Benefits of apartment buildings.
If I need a bug killed, I have elderly neighbors who are really nice about it XD. I once left my swiffer on their balcony because it had a spider on it.
If I need a late night snack, I have a chef neighbor who is a really close friend now.
