My heart just broke for them cutting off Yuhan's TEN SECOND speech. Getting a career highlighting award, and not even getting to say five words on stage. EJAE was so lovely to make sure he could get time to say it during the press time backstage.

Put it down with the other reasons not to watch this **** show, I'm grateful that these people got the recognition they deserve but the Oscars (like most award shows) are just elites patting each other on the back. Most of the people in the Hollywood bubble are terrible people and they probably cut him off on purpose.

the way i didn't even notice marty's big losses until you pointed it out i guess it really was just the 80s songs that made me love it like i did and not any of the movie's actual aspects lmao. now that i think about it, the only thing i remember from it is the fact that the shoe shop marty worked at had "never ending soles" as its tagline because seeing it in theaters had me sit there pointing on the screen like that leonardo dicaprio meme. still better than one mid after another though

and don't get me started on the shitbag sean penn omg people like him shouldn't even have a platform. if his ass didn't show up they should have let stellan leave with that golden statue idgaf

I may be the friend that’s too woke but the big narratives going into the ceremony being jessie buckle hates cats (that shit on her pillow) and timmy being annoying (as usual) is hilarious to me when best actor supports abusers, best director pushed fiona apple out of a car and threw a chair at her, best director nominee didn’t do anything as an actress was sexually assaulted while the cameras were rolling… gotta love how weinstein campaign season never died

no honestly i 100% agree with you. while i admit that jessie sharing the fact that she made her husband choose between her or his cats as some cute anegdote is the main reason i chose to not watch the bride, it is weird to see people choose what issues they care about based on what movies they enjoy. same happened last year when people were being called puritans for disliking anora even though the director follows an account called idf babes and cast mikey because he though she looked like a "sexy teenager". i didn't know PTA was a piece of shit like that though i only knew he was a coward for making a movie like OBAA and then never speaking on politics when asked to. yikes...

it's made me sideye her but tbh if she wasn't exaggerating and the cat shitting on her pillow was a repeated thing i get why she'd reconsider a relationship, although i think it's still mental to push that decision onto her husband instead of just, you know, leaving
my issue with so much of the sex positivity is that it often loops right back into the objectification and sexualization of women when it goes unchecked and all criticism getting hit with "but that's sexism"
i know that pcw is getting dragged in korean film circles but it's absurd that no other choice didn't get a single nod this year (not to mention the decision to leave robbery of 2023) and it getting excused since he was a scab (in the technical terms he didn't even scab), resurrection getting nothing was expected but just as bad a snub
but who am i to judge, i personally put more weight into the festival circuit + annies for animation than the academy awards
