What got u into anime? (1 Viewer)

Have you just always been into anime or was there particular event that got you into it?

For me it just happened quite naturally and gradually, anime was sth that was always part of my childhood cause we didn't really get other cartoons on tv when i was kid. So without even knowing it I just watched anime about European folklores (these were popular back in the day), then Pokemon, Digimon, some stuff from VHS like Nagareboshi gin (which apparently is only popular in Finland) and Lady Oscar. When i got older they started showing Fullmetal Alchemist and Dragon Ball Z that were pretty popular in middle school and sth people talked about. Though what made me really get into anime was finding anime on internet which gave such broad category of it beyond just couple series that were airing on tv, i got into both Naruto and NANA back then. And finally my friend who got me into cosplaying which led to feeling like i was part of community, joining in anime forums, starting to watch anime seasonally and all that stuff.

Pretty much Pokemon an Digimon. Back then, I knew them only as cartoons, but as I dug deeper in the scene I got hooked.

I have 2 brothers who are around the same age as me, they like to watch anime on a cartoon channel, one of them is gundam, till today it remains my fave.

I think it was just something that I thought looked interesting and wanted to check out. So, I went on youtube typed in anime and got High School of the Dead and Baka no Test lol. Those were the first two that I watched.

For some reason I went through a huge Pokémon phase when I was 15. I watched it as a kid too, but I watched this first 5 seasons all over again when I was a teenager. After that I just wanted to watch other types of anime and I just kept watching it for a few years. I rarely watch anime now though because I don't really find it as interesting as I did before. :/

I've been into anime for as long as I can remember. It started with Pokemon when I was 5 and then it gradually moved on to Naruto and so forth ^^

i watched stuff like pokémon, doraemon and captain tsubasa as a kid but i always thought of them as regular cartoons. then, when i was like 14, some of my friends who really liked anime started telling me i should explore the genre more so i did and got irreversibly addicted to it

I grew up watching Pokemon and Robotech (the original season) so its kind of always been in my life.

My friend told me to check out an anime called Special A. I remember loving it and I binge watched a lot of shoujos after that. Eventually I started branching out to other genres and I was addicted.

I'm sad it was never introduced to me when I was a lot younger so I don't know much about Pokemon or Digimon or other popular anime. Hopefully, I'll be able to sit down and watch them one day.
