I had one of those leopard geckos growing up.
If you're not afraid of reptiles lol. They can shoot their tails out, it was kinda freaky the first time ir happened. It got loose from the cage and I couldn't find it and when I finally did it was because I accidentally stepped on its tail and I heard a screech and their its tail shot out and started flipping everywherevery proud!!

I learned somehow(not from irl) tat some lizards/geckos[maybe all/most] can lose their tails, maybe to escape capture - n their tail can grow back. I think i learned this in high school.

Yep, its a safety mechanism. The tail is where they store their access fat and energy. When leopard geckos are in danger, they detach it and it shoots out to distract the predator so that it goes foe the tail instead of them and since its also storing the energy, it can flop around for some time to fool the predator

No just the extra energy. Think humans...we store all our extra energy in our fat, they store it in their tails. But after they do become more sluggish as they slowly grow back their tailI see
