you'll be watching horror esque content first thing in the morning on youtube and the ONE type of horror picture that geniunely freaks you out was in the video, slowly sliding into frame

you go on about the rest of your day, completely forgetting about the imagery at all or even that you watched the video in the first place. 18 hours have even passed.

and then the moment you turn off the lights to go to bed,
your brain shows the image again unprompted out of nowhere
"remember that picture that scared the shit out of you? no? well remember now, 🫵IN THE DARK"

i think the fact i only got a glance and immediately looked away only when the eyes were in frame before anything else showed genuinely made it worse.

The best way to get over fear has always been to confront it! I collected horror movies in my teens because one scared me as a child and now that sort of thing rarely affects me, I also got over my fear of spiders by picking them up around the house. As for the dark - the best thing to remember is that anything you can't see probably can't see you either.. Unless it's an animal, lol.

its wild because fictional horror has never phases me. movies, games, do not move me an inch. in generally really hard to scare me. but the thing that is always unnerving to me are those really uncanny high contrast faces with big eyes and big pupils just staring directly at the camera this "Ever Dream This Man?" but at like max setting of uncanny. no matter how many times i see a face like that i feel like death is near, i dont even think thats something that i wanna shock exposure myself into being okay with lmao.
