I don't think it would make sense for me to put Candice in, but if you wanted me to put in Tenpenko and MaRiMi in, then I will do.
I work best when I do my own characters and develop them from the ground and up, if I started adding other author's characters, that authentic feel to the book would be lost.
So, I am sorry but I can't put any characters that are not my creation into my story, I feel that they wouldn't fit into my particular story.
It's like if you put in a character like Momoko into your story, that would probably confuse the plot since she is not your character and she's an already made character.

Somehow I don't think that would work.
Maybe you could get away with one of the sub characters that hasn't been developed yet, but I wouldn't know who that would be.

Ooh I got it, maybe Masato can be in a Band tournament or something and he sees how good one of his competitors is, so he wants to be better than them and keeps practicing until he does, but when the next round comes, his competitor does one better than him, so he practices again until he perfects it, and when the next round comes, his competitor gets one better than him again, he then becomes frustrated and goes up to his competitor and there they will start an unlikely romance lol

I feel like this side story could have it's own full story though.
Maybe I should do that in the future, like have them as a side story for now, but then Nanako and Masato should have their own spin-off story

Well, I think it's because they will have a fierce rivalry, so at face value, it is unlikely but not impossible.
So it would appear to be unlikely but is actually not.

I ask because judging from what I have read about writing fiction, this kind of conflicts are great to add some more dimensions to the characters. Usually the most interesting characters are those who have some kind of conflicting values/emotions. Yes, they'll be rivals; but one of them may secretly admire his rival, while the other might have a little sympathy (maybe) for the other; so a turbulent romance could engender. Maybe not true love; I don't know. They might end up realizing they were not truly in love.
