You craft your best armor and weapon then you arrive at the day you prepared your life for.

Then you get there and your nemesis just go

"Nah, I suck, I quit"

Then all your adrenaline vanishes.
You lose all your desire to continue and you realise you sucks too for preparing.

I actually have silver medal from some random sport competition as a kid.. and there was only 2 participants, me and one other, in my age group. So that silver never made me particularly proud..
