Well, the spaceship is the property of whatever country they're from, right? So wouldn't that countries laws still apply?

Good question. I think, in space, the law of "extraterritorial jurisdiction" comes into play for whomever is in space. Basically, this means someone is bound by the laws of the country from which they originate, even if they are not presently in another country. So let's say @Ozymandias stabs @bulletproof in space. @bulletproof 's family has the legal right prosecute @Ozymandias as stabbing/murder is illegal in India.

Well, this what my Dad said when I asked. He said a lot more stuff but it was mostly lawyer talk and I got lost somewhere along the way lol.

I'm pretty sure you can't get away with it. Theoretically it's the same case as the international waters, nobody owns them but there are laws which enforce the basic rules.

if you are citizen of country you might be judged based on laws of that country anyways for example koreans can't gamble or use drugs overseas, as soon as they return to Korea they will be punished even if they did those in countries where gambling and using drugs is legal.
