Have you ever been discriminated because of your race? Or has anyone you've known faced racism before?

I've experienced it a few times but it was nothing too serious. The oldest incident I remember was when I was 7 or 8 and one of the kids who lived on my street called me burnt toast. It was a pretty weak insult but it was a pretty big hit for me when I was a child. I'd never really considered myself different from them before then. One of the most recent incidents is a few boys shouting at me and my friends to go back to our own country. We reported it and hopefully they've been dealt with now.

honestly germany is such a weird place. we are generally mixed in schools so we have contact with alot of nationalities but you still hear some pretty sick stuff ( at least my grade until I graduate school was like that).

I'm glad you were able to change someone's mind. I dislike stereotypes in general but I really dislike it when people sterotype a whole country. I've heard/seen countless untrue and quite mean stereotypes about my home country and it really hurts to read them.

yeah there really is no logic behind it. I am just glad that I was mostly friends or friendly with everyone.
My core friendship group was made up off russian ( me and another girl), greek, turkish and polish people.

Yes I know, I hate it when people generalize things about a whole country. People are different and being excluded/judged because a bunch of people from your country are in a certain way is not ok.

Wow that's a large diversity! My friendship group is made up of Indian, Turkish, Italian, African, Sri Lankan and British people. My school has a lot of minorities in general so there are very few friendship groups where they will all be from the same country. I was hoping to escape quite a lot of racism when I came to live where I do now, but I've encountered/heard of more incidents than I have ever before... It's quite baffling.

Went from a straight A student to on the verge of being held back until my parents finally got me out of there.
On a lighter note, became an avid reader and writer in all that free time I had

yeah it defently is I feel lucky that I was able to have such good friends who were able to understand where someone was coming from

I really never understood why people need to hate on someone that is different. We all are the same after all.

That's why I'm kinda reserved to say I'm from our country We have a crap reputation But I didn't experience any kind of racism personally

That's awesome to hear The truth is a lot of people have opinions about a country from stereotypes but I have to admit our country has enough citizens I'm not proud of.

Wow, what the hell... Somehow kids saying racist stuff is more disturbing than adult doing it. Because it becomes clear that racist adults are transferring their shitty ideology to young minds.

My whole family is racist, so I've seen it up close. However, it's more "living room racism" as they call it: so just in our house we hear racist stuff. However, my parents do say racist things about people in public sometimes as well, but they do it in our own language, which the victims mostly don't know (or under their breath so they don't hear).

Flanders is pretty much very racist and it's outed these days a lot (an extremely right party won elections and a lot of people now seem to be ok to spread hateful things on facebook and such). A have a lot of friends whose parents thought them to think like them and they confessed to me that if they would come home with a non-(white) Belgian, they would be kicked out of the house.

I've seen a couple of people on the internet say some racist things towards white people as a whole with them saying "It's ok, whites are racist anyways/They were racist to us in the 1800s"

There's a reason why I want to emigrate and the behavior of "my own people" just disgusts me.

I haven't really lived abroad so nope, but there's still a lot of diversity among people in our country and different groups of people hate or stereotype each other anyway so.
I haven't personally faced any racism so far, but I've had to deal with stereotypes too, and people ask me stuff like "Oh is it true that you guys do so and so".
