possibly unpopular opinions? (Twice, Red Velvet) (1 Viewer)

I was feeling very bored and kinda spicy so here are some opinions that have been Marinating™ inside me. Please don't attack me for these. Kinda just curious what other people think. Please don't read if you're sensitive about either group, although it only really gets Spicy™ in the Red Velvet tab.

TWICE

• I don't know why people say they're the worst vocalists in K-Pop for their generation. I don't even see it for Momo.

I'm a casual listener. I think they're good singers. Momo's voice has never stood out to me as being particularly bad. In my frank opinion, I think it's their cutesy style that causes people to slam them so much.

RED VELVET

• I think they're overall a visually great group.

It's really just Joy, Seulgi, and Irene that I find especially pretty among them, but I think overall as a group, even when any of them isn't your type; they're objectively a group with strong visuals. There's just something about them....

• That said, Joy is the best-looking one out of them.

I think Irene's visuals are overrated. However, this is not the problem for me. If you find Irene the prettiest, that is not a problem. Beauty is subjective. My problem is that people act that Irene being the best-looking girl in Red Velvet is an objective fact, as though it's something you cannot dispute. She's pretty, yes, but can you name anything in her appearance that causes her to stand out so much that you can't argue any of the other girls are better-looking? Joy has her extraordinarily full lips, height, and glamorous figure. But, again, if you think Irene's prettiest, that's not a problem. It's just that people act like no one can be prettier than her and it's just beyond any debate... that's bizarre to me.

• Their newest comebacks have been incredibly lackluster so far.

"Zimzalabim" was plain terrible, but I'd say they bounced back musically with "Umpah Umpah." "Umpah Umpah" is nice and fun, but it is not — as they sing in the chorus — "something unforgettable." It's pleasant, but oh so generic. The ReVe Festival seems to have been cobbled together in just a few days, so far. "Dumb Dumb" was iconic and a microcosm of a special time not just in K-Pop, but pop music as a whole (2015). "Cookie Jar" was polarizing and experimental, but not bad or wholly unmemorable. "Power Up" was a delightful, amazing video game-inspired summer jam. Who's managing them during this era? (I Googled. At least it's just an EP. Still, I hope they start releasing better stuff soon. It hasn't been long since they did something I would consider to be really remarkable.)

I feel like liking Zimzalabim is more of an unpopular opinion that disliking it tbh. I personally loved it.
I recommend listening to the b-sides from the 2 albums if you disliked the title tracks ^^. Especially Day2. A few of the songs are probably some of their best b-sides.

I also really like Momo's voice in Twice. Her parts are actually some of my favourite in Twice's songs. I love her lines in DTNA and Likey.

I think Twice's "juvenile," "cutesy" image affects how a lot of people think about them. I mean, I've encountered hate towards "Signal," with their detractors calling it their musical and visual worst. IMO, if you saw that video and how the girls, especially Sana, were acting all cute for the alien by the window and thought, "This is awful!" instead of "This is the funniest shit I've ever been fortunate enough to witness in my life," you probably need to grow a sense of humor. I thought "Signal" was, at the very least, hilarious. It wasn't a bad song, just understandably not everyone's cup of tea.

I really liked Signal so I appreciate any love towards it. And people hate on Twice way too much. They don't deserve it all.

I like momo voice and her parts are always the one i prefer
But it don't make of her an average vocalist if we are honest

I think part of Twice's "problem" is that their material is too high-pitched for their natural singing ranges. Here are two examples of how they'd sound when they're singing comfortably:

tbh I thought that all the side tracks for the reve festival day 1 and 2 were great, honestly, I think that they should have made either parade or sunny side up the title tracks for day 1. they definitely have a more gp friendly feel.

also I never saw the reason on why people hate on signal so much?? like ive grown out of it but I genuinely liked it when I first listened to it, also that whole mini-album has my favorite twice bside on it, three times a day.
