The Show gave him a win that should have gone to AOA which caused an outcry. That probably didn't help matters and embarrassed him

i'm not a fan of him but when i read the this my heart dropped, it's so saddening to see so many idols depressed. i'm happy he was able to share with us (partially) what he is going through, it makes me hope for a better future of recognizing idol mental health. wishing him the best.

None of you know how bad it actually is. This gets to me mentally too, my mental health is so bad because of all the recent attacks on Daniel. I’m this close to quitting K-pop and if Daniel decides not to live idol life, then I will drop K-pop completely, I’m just so tired of people writing hurtful things about him on daily basis, witch hunting him for every little thing, discrediting his hard work and twisting his own words into something a lot worse. I’ve been quiet about it because I realised no one would care unless idol comes and says these things.

He said on Happy Together 4 that to avoid being noticed, he walks like he’s tired, a Shawol (yes, I’m not kidding) out of all people translated anti’s post with over 27k retweets and said how he walks like a disabled person and damage was done. Weeks earlier this person was preaching about mental health regarding Sulli, but Daniel’s mental health is not important? Instead of apologising, she deflected it back on Daniel, saying that he needs a PR manager and went private. Her Twitter username was Enxrima so if you want to look up tweets, go ahead.

Other day Sungwoon stans ganged up on him because he got invited to MMA and Sungwoon didn’t and they were writing things like ‘He’ll steal Sungwoon’s Hot Trend award, how much did ratniel pay, he’s sponsored’ .. He didn’t win that award, instead he got best music video, which is 100% judge award. But then his antis would write ‘If AB6IX wins, we’ll curse MMA. If Kang Daniel wins, we’ll curse MMA and Kang Daniel.’

And yesterday he won on The Show and got ganged on by AOA and ASTRO stans, they kept calling him a cheater who bought his own win, kept dragging him down because he didn’t chart as well even though The Show clarified that they use Gaon chart.. which means he had a lot of downloads.

Plus he has an insanely large anti community, I keep reporting and blocking all the time, most of them are Korean and Thai, there’s literally thousands of them, targeting him for hours on Twitter, nitpicking on every small thing, calling him ugly and talentless and so forth. Not only just antis, but Wanna One OT10 stans take part in this who attacked him for the colours of his official merch and trended hateful hashtag on his comeback day to ruin it for him.

I got so upset writing this because there has been more like that one NB article about Jihyo where they’d attack Daniel for his looks. Yes, I understand he’s not a visual, but calling him clapped...? He has his own charms. Plus people writing how Jihyo is too good for someone like Daniel and deserves so much better....

I want him to rest as long as possible, these people need to be dealt with, all of them. They’ve no right to preach about mental health when they go and do these awful things to Daniel.

The Show already explained that they use Gaon charts as a basis, he probably has A LOT of downloads, but not that many streams. People can download the song but it doesn’t necessarely mean they’ll stream it for hours. He’s a male soloist who doesn’t sing ballads, he’ll struggle to chart regardless of how famous he is, I wish people would realise that instead of throwing ‘his failing charting’ at fans as an explanation why AOA deserved to win. Downloads are still digitals in end of the day and I don’t see what The Show would gain from manipulating it. They can take this win if they want but they need to stop attacking Daniel, AOA stans have gone through it many times and should know better what such comments can do to an idol, so to see them target Daniel and not The Show is disgusting. :/

I honestly have no idea if the "correct" calculations would have put AOA in front Astro.

Digitals go by unique listeners to begin with as that's how you calculate the weekly chart which is what it goes by where AOA were 70ish on Melon the main chart basically and then the MV views depends on if The Show counts both MVs if they only count one MV then AOAs views aren't as strong especially if they go by 1theK and as well you got to take into account that Come See Me came out the day after Touchin' giving Daniel fans a head start for digitals while Astros came out the week before.

I would have loved for AOA to win but there's a lot that goes into a music show score and I think it's totally conceivable given Daniels popularity he could have beaten them since The Show doesn't gain anything from screwing these groups so if they don't say anything that's probably because by their calculations they are correct which another win that people didn't agree with was Laboum beating IU but by Music Banks calculations it was correct.
