Do you like Sword Art Online? (4 Viewers)

This question comes after finally watching the full series, and then finding a never ending list of videos criticizing the whole series on Youtube.

Apparently, quite a lot of people hate it.

Spoiler: Inserting this video just bc it made me laugh and covers quite a lot of criticisms of the series

And I mean I agree with pretty much all of the criticisms, but at the same time they just don't really bother me as much as they do for other people. Despite everything wrong with the show I still feel like the main concept is still interesting, fun, and relevant in a time where VR is actually a thing and the whole Nervegear/Amusphere thing doesn't sound too out of reach. Plus the animation is pretty well done and my shallow ass is satisfied with my pretty dark haired anime boii protagonist. Out of all the criticisms for the show, the only one that actually puts me off is the unnecessary sexual assault scenes that don't treat the subject with as much weight as they should and just turn it into a bit of a piss take...

Aside from everything I somewhat enjoyed SAO, it's not the top of my list but I wouldn't say it was bad either, and I loved SAO Alicization even more, but whether we credit that entirely to there being a light haired pretty anime boii 2nd protagonist next to my dark haired pretty anime boii protagonist to create the perfect pretty anime boii pairing is something that i'll let you guys decide

So do you guys love it? Or did you hate it? Do you think all the criticisms for the show no matter how harsh are all deserved or do you think people are being too hard on it?

I'm not most into isekais and i haven't heard that much of interesting stuff about SAO so i never watched it- until Alicization. So i have pretty much just watched Alicization and couple eps of War of Underworld. I rly liked premise of Alicization, but I wasn't biggest fan of the ending of the season Kirito better resurrect Eugeo some point Alicization has pretty good stuff, well there is that one stupid scene that made everyone ask: am i watching goblin slayer?? but great anime nevertheless. Also ADAMAS was best op song last year.

eugeo seemed to be really good character for the sao franchice, i think the reasoning in the end was kinda stupid too like him being afraid kirito would take alice and that now kirito could have alice.. like what point even kirito wanted alice they were both equally important to him- or like eugeo even more since he was kirito's partner.. that seemed just stupid lot point that was based on gender and nth else

Well it was the scenes people complain about xd it just seemed to change the mood completely and didn't rly fit to rest of the anime.

I watched both seasons and the main reason was Asuna

But no for real, it was one of my first animes that I‘ve watched (besides Pokemon or any other Anime that got aired on TV a lot). I still remember that I‘ve really enjoyed it, so it does have a special place in my heart. If I look back to it now, SAO does deserve the criticism and I do think it is an anime that you should rather avoid if you‘re super into deep stories. I don‘t mind tbh, as long as it‘s not boring and enjoyable to watch... and if it has Asuna in it.

Kirito could have easily just said to Eugeo BRUH ALICE IS A FRIEND TO ME THAT'S IT like he didn't even need to explain that he's with another girl outside of the Underworld UGH. We could have easily had Eugeo/Alice and Kirito/Asuna. If Kirito wasn't going to be with Asuna then the only substitute that I will accept is both girls can step aside and let us have the big gay pretty boii yaoi we DESERVE with a Kirito and Eugeo pairing UGH so many wasted opportunities

:^) Asuna doesn't really appear much in Season 3 or 4 really (well season 4 isn't finished yet but she has finally made her appearance in the main part of the story) since in season 3, the Story is centered around Kirito's adventures in the Underworld as he's testing out a new full dive machine, and Asuna isn't part of that testing. She does however play quite an important role outside of it though but that isn't shown much seeing as there's a lot more story they need to get through in the Underworld before they show what's going on in the real world

Edit: forgot to mention Eugeo BUT YES he is a character in Season 3, he's the main character beside Kirito so he kinda takes Asuna's place as 2nd protagonist while Asuna is outside doing real world shit

Yeah it was really unnecessary and out of the blue. AND QUINELLA'S DEATH, MY GOD. If you don't wanna spent an hour watching the video I linked in OP, I highly recommend at least watching it from 38 minutes in on the dot, since the whole section starts off with a hilarious quote that pretty much summarizes the what the fuckery that is the last 4 episodes

I was forced by my brother to watch Season 1 back when it came out. He loves it and was excited for new seasons to come whole I was not into it. It‘s not bad but it‘s not the most amazing anime. I really prefer different ones.

I only watched season 1-2 (and maybe a few eps from season 3, but I dont remember why didnt I continue it)


I watched them years ago tbh and I forgot a lot of things, but I enjoyed it very much.
Also the openings are amazing

You should continue season 3! I almost stopped watching after the first 2 episodes cuz I was just like wat but eventually it all made sense and Adamas is the best OP by LiSA ever!
