There are so many other boy groups but it was BTS who became successful in the U.S.? Is it because of that god awful song with Hasley?

It's closest to what their current taste is. Simple as that. If you carefully notice, BTS is getting slowly westernized and they no longer do what K-Pop should be in my opinion.

to be honest i don't know and i'm not american so i'm not who this question was directed at, but i think their popularity is well deserved. and the reason behind it is obviously not the song they made with halsey (which in my opinion is far from being awful) because they were very well known way before that happened.

Theyve been huge forever, it has nothing to do with Boy With Luv. Their fandom is very vocal and since they've been breaking a lot of records theyve been getting attention. That being said Monsta X, SuperM and NCT also have a large international following so its not just them, as kpop becomes more popular other groups also get attention.

They've been popular in the US for quite a while, a few years before their song with Halsey. I think Blood Sweat and Tears, released in 2016, was pretty much what launched them into America. There isn't really a known reason why they became so popular out of all the other groups though. It could have been luck, teamwork, social media, something else or even a combination of a lot of things. Kpop was already quite big at that point and BTS were that extra push which made it more mainstream and known.

Obviously they didn't start out with a huge fandom but US armys were bubbling about for quite a while behind the scenes i'm sorry before BTS' actual breakthrough into the industry, and then suddenly the US armys came out of their army caves to go see them in the flesh on US soil and everyone was just like WOAH WHERE DID THESE ARMYS COME FROM as if we literally just spawned out of nothing the moment BTS were nominated for their first BBMA

Yea, most kpop groups have westerns fandoms, some quite big ones too. Having that fandom rly helped them to breakthrough, that and given opportunity to push for it with the BBMAs.

Didn't Army go super hard with social media promotion? Also a few years ago you'd see the infamous "Any Army here? xD" comments on practically every youtube video. Hearing about BTS was almost inescapable.

If that were the case then many other kpop groups would be as popular as bts. Kpop is extremely westernized, always has been and will always continue to be. A lot of the inspirations from their concepts, styling, music come mainly from American music culture.

And to answer the op, bts has been slowly promoting in America since the beginning. They didn’t just launch themselves into it like a lot of other kpop groups are doing now. They never forced themselves into it and tbh I think that’s probably one of the biggest reasons why they’re so big now.

No, BLACKPINK stayed true to their image, they try to appeal by making their songs almost fully in English.
