Nope, not albums- but animes! Who would have guessed.. 
I watched lot of stuff this year, I mean a tons. Some of it pretty good, someone it downright awful, but couple masterpieces. So dedicating this thread to good anime of 2019.
It would make sense to just have 5 shows here right, but nah TOP 6 it is. You get one extra. I will score these, but it will be boring cause these are best of the best. If people demand I could also make worst of the worst.. that I actually watched. Cause I ended up dropping a lot too.

6. Hoshiai no Sora (/Stars Align)
Hoshiai no Sora was anime that surprised me most this year. Since it's original nobody really know what it would be about until first ep. At first it looked like pastel colored slice of life with cute boys meets shonen sports anime, and I was bit bored at first almost dropped it in half way of the first ep. But the ending of the ep rly hits you.. literally, and you realize the series is actually about serious drama. So serious that when the ending song hits you gotta check if there is going to be another heart-wrenching after credits scene. Delightfully progressive, if not bit preachy at times, Hoshiai no Sora walks the line between adolescent drama and sports anime. Downside being that there is only 12 eps, with this cast and conflicts they should have gone for two courts.
Last ep hasn't still aired and endings can change lot for me, so I don't still have final verdict of Hoshiai no Sora. So far positively surprising yet still flawed series. 9/10, might drop to 8 depending on ending.
5. Kanata no Astra (/ Astra: Lost in Space)
It has been a while I watched pure scifi anime that was about space and more of travelling space. Another great surprise for me, I was actually expecting to not like it cause I wasn't feeling the cast from the trailer. That opinion changed a lot through the series, I felt like all of them become pretty likeable when u got to know them better. Another great surprise in Astra was that although it was the space adventure we were promised from the trailer, it also was great mystery series that continuously kept hitting you with plot twists- that made sense, but weren't predictable at all. Definitely series to go in blind and avoiding getting spoiled, I did get spoiled about one major plot point which was annoying.
And another great thing about Astra what you don't often see with animes anymore.. it was full story in 12 eps. It wasn't: "maybe we will continue", "go read the manga", it was compact story from start to finish with all the plot threads getting tied one by one as the series progressed. This is sth I rly appreciate and more shows should do
Not to only praise Astra, I felt like the ending was.. oh that would be spoiler. It wasn't bad as ending, but maybe too much for my taste. 9/10.
4. Fruits Basket (2019)
Furuba is back, after 18 years. And the animation is actually good and what's even better- it actually follows the manga and doesn't reduce Shigure into joke character and change whole motivation and story of the antagonist of the series. Yay. Watching Furuba 2019 was trip of memory lane for me, remembering the manga I read when I was back in high school.. I think? It has been long. Thankfully since it has been long, I have been hit again with some things I had forgotten so it feels both rly familiar but still kinda fresh at same time.
Furuba is such emotional journey, I feel like it's best that shoujo has to offer. In terms of shoujos that aren't historical action fantasies like Akatsuki no Yona I mean. Shoujo's that are about school, drama and romance. The focus on drama has been always Furuba's strong points, as is not falling into traps of love triangles that every romance shoujo just must have. I can't wait for season 2 next year. 9/10
3. Kimetsu no Yaiba (/Demon Slayer)
Unlimited Budjet Works is back and their budjet is more unlimitless than ever. That doesn't work grammatically, but you get the point I assume. I don't know what was wrong with me, but first 6 or so eps I was just thinking the series is alright and that I'm actually kinda bored with it, that it isn't that interesting. Why in the world I would think that, I even watched some early eps if they rly were boring and they weren't
Kimetsu no Yaiba is the it series this year, everybody talks about it, praises it, it trends on twitter.. But it does deserve attention. Unlimited Budjet Works streches their budjet to limit of unlimitless for the animation, especially the fight scenes are crazy. CGI fits so perfectly with the hand drawn animation, CGI camera effects work well to bring viewer closer to happenings. Tanjiro is somewhat so refreshing as shonen protagonist, he is not unnecessary strong and he's just such oldest sibling character that I can't help, but relate.
I keep praising this, but I will still give it 9/10. More is to come and after big spider fight there wasn't rly series finale, just eps building up to future events. So can't give perfect score for it. Maybe next season then.. or movie, since that comes out first.
2. The Promised Neverland (Yakusoku no Neverland)
As i'm not big fan of horror at first I wasn't planning watching the Promised Neverland at all. Seriously what is wrong with me, almost skipping over all the best series, but then randomly giving them chance and getting blown away. Not much can be said about the Promised Neverland without spoiling at all. But it is rly good mystery series with horror elements, where these orphan kids try to figure out how the world they are living in works.
Like Astra, this one is full of twists and plot threads that you will find out one by one. The Promised Neverland is pretty emotional one, no matter how logical and smart these kids get. You will definitely root for them through the series. Best thing in the season 1 is definitely the finale episode, somehow the studio managed to make perfect ending for the season 1 where the season 1 works as perfect and satisfying story of it's own- but also starting point for season 2 that is coming October next year actually (just saw announcement on twitter ^^). 10/10
1. Mob Psycho 100 S2
Isn't the cover image pretty, surreal and tells you nothing, just like the openings of the series. Mob Psycho 100 S2 is interesting one. I didn't actually hop into it until half way reason being that I actually hadn't seen Mob Psycho 100 before so I had to binge it. Thankfully it was so amazing I binged it in no time though.
I would say that Mob Psycho 100 S2 is almost perfect anime. You get unbelievable amount of character growth within cast. Stakes at times seem higher than ever. You get very emotional towards the characters, for various reasons. Like ONE's work in general, lot of it feels rly current and in touch with reality as well. In top of that you get great animation with more fights than ever in Mob Psycho. And ofc, you get the originality of Mob Psycho's and ONE's art.
In other hand what doesn't make it perfect for me, and this probably is cause my expectations towards this were sky high and just rising from ep to ep, the ending part feels bit cramped up for me. I almost prefer the simplicity of season 1 on how it moved forward and tackled stuff one by one. Even if I recognize that season 2 takes things to different spheres. Regardless not being perfecf.. it's still a 10/10. Might not make sense, but I guess nth can be perfect.
Btw, OST of season 2 is pretty weird. It has tons of songs that sound like they are from horror movie. You get ur regular weird but hype/emotional mob psycho pieces, but also these creepy horror ones. Great xd
