The most offensive thing you could probably say or do to an artist is to compare them to other artists.
I see that a lot on YouTube and it makes me sad because it's their own individual work that they've
worked so hard on and then you're gonna compare them to someone else. :(
How about,"Wow, you sound amazing!"
Instead of,"Wow, you sound like Billie Eilish." -_-​

Of course.
But depending on the status of the person they being compared to (I.e a lengendery artist) it can come as positive rather than a negative. But you always want to be know for you individual artistry and what makes you, you. Rather than what makes you just like some one else.

If its seen as a compliment I don't see the harm in it.
But for the most part, its done in ignorance, of not knowing about the artist themselves.
And that is offensive yeah. Labeling someone as someone else is just so 'typical' of society.

I don't think we're ever going to stop doing it either.
